The Michelham Game &
Country Fare on 16th & 17th July was a great success and the Branch
was able to mount one of our best stands to date.
The weather couldn't have been better (although a little cooler
would have been nice). Interest in the work of
S&TA was high with lots of people eager to "have a go" at fly
casting, such that our instructors had queues waiting.
For the first time we were able to run a casting accuracy
competition thanks to sponsorship from
Sportfish, and their donation
of two rods as prizes for the winners, together with baseball caps
for our raffle.
Our thanks also goes to
Caffyns, who again sponsored our casting demonstrations, given this
year by Alan Middleton and Brian Smart. Again, this
attracted good audiences and helped direct them to our stand.
Our thanks go to all
the volunteers who helped out over the two days but particular
thanks go to Paul Cumbers, Graham Mortimore and Robert Nathan who
took on board the organisation and administration of our stand, and
to Amanda Ince, Mark Brown, Dave Crouch, Bob Hales, Brian Raw,
Brian Smart and Tom Todd for their instruction on "Have -a-Go".
